St. Louis Cardinals Head to the World Series... Will the Win it All?
Starting off as what some might deam as a rocky season, the St. Louis Cardinals have somehow managed to win the NLCS. With most people outside St. Louis holding no hope the comeback team has struck again. Does this season resemble a certain 2006 season? Will the Cardnials pull off another World Series win?
According to Mark Townsend here are the five reasons the St. Louis Cardinals will win the World Series.
1. Chris Carpenter is available for two starts and possibly more:
2. The offense will stay hot: The Redbirds can't count on getting help from the Rangers defense like they did from Milwaukee's (LCS record nine errors), or at least I hope they can't. That's not all that fun to watch. But I do think they will continue their offensive roll against another pitching staff that has yet to establish itself in this postseason.
C.J. Wilson(notes) is scuffling a bit and, according to everybody, the impending free agent's value seems to fluctuate with every pitch. Derek Holland(notes) has excellent stuff, but is still searching for consistency. That leaves Colby Lewis(notes) and Matt Harrison(notes), a pair of reliable options, but no more intimidating than Shaun Marcum(notes) and Randy Wolf(notes).
The Texas bullpen will keep St. Louis from maintaining their seven-run average from the NLCS, but Albert Pujols(notes) and friends will keep the pressure on Texas to continue scoring.
3. Tony La Russa's masterful maneuvering: I'll never be the president of La Russa's fan club, but I'll be the first to give credit where it's due. He did a tremendous job guiding his squad through the NLCS without a single outing from a starting pitcher lasting into the sixth inning. That's something that's never been done before — at least not successfully.
La Russa stated during his in-game interview in Game 6 that he hasn't enjoyed having to pull so many strings. I don't believe him — he loves being in the middle of the action, and we know he's going to continue being aggressive in creating good matchups for his pitching staff. With that in mind, I'm not convinced Ron Washington can match wits and or keep up over the course of a seven-game series.
Now, If this were a dugout dance-off, I'd give Washington the slight edge. Anything baseball related, I'll go La Russa.
4. Home field advantage: Hopefully, St. Louis left Prince Fielder(notes) a thank-you note on its way out of Miller Park. Of course it was Fielder's three-run home run — ironically against C.J. Wilson in the All-Star Game — that affords the Redbirds home field in the World Series. That's a big advantage should it go the distance, because home teams have won the past eight Game 7's in the Fall Classic. It also gives St. Louis a comfortable setting to start and finish the series, and could play into the following:
5. The pressure is squarely on Texas: The Cardinals are playing with house money. They were left for dead back in early September — as this tweet from Nyjer Morgan(notes) indicates — and have gone on an improbable two-month run to end up here. Obviously they're going to want to win while they're here, but they're not expected to.
On the other side, the Rangers are the favorites and they're looking to avoid losing back-to-back World Series. They come in realizing it's rare enough to get a second chance, and that a third would be an extreme long shot. That gives us two teams with two completely different mindsets going in, which could develop into a mental edge for St. Louis if it starts the series with a couple wins and/or come home with a chance to win it.
I'm not saying the Rangers will fold, but they could press. If so, the Rangers will end up stunned, like Philadelphia and Milwaukee before them.
According to Mark Townsend here are the five reasons the St. Louis Cardinals will win the World Series.
1. Chris Carpenter is available for two starts and possibly more:
There were several advantages to the Cardinals wrapping up their NLCS victory in six games. The most important? Lining up Chris Carpenter to start Game 1. That gives manager Tony La Russa the option of bringing his ace — and the best pitcher in this series — back twice on short rest in Games 4 and 7, or starting him in Game 5 and potentially having him available in relief in Game 7.
It all depends on how things shake out early in the series, but the flexibility La Russa can enjoy with a well-rested (and reportedly healthy) Carpenter is a potential series-changer.2.

St. Louis Rams Have No Faith in their Fans
With the start of the NFL football season finally here the fans should be ready to yell, scream, and taunt right? Well according to the St. Louis Rams staff their fans are not ready for this season. With the production of the video "Ram Rules" http://bit.ly/oLCjn4 hitting the St. Louis area by storm, it has many fans upset. The fans feel as if they are being told they are incapable of cheering at a football game. With the release of the video before kickoff last Sunday, the St. Louis staff got a reaction they probably were not expecting; angry fans and booing! Check out the video to see more.http://youtu.be/0-d-Hf5Zzn4

Remembering 9-11
With the 10th anniversary of the 9-11 attacks approaching, people in America and around the World step back and take a moment to remember the lives lost, the hero's who tried to save them, and the people affected by this terrible attack. An event of such magnitude is hard to forget. Where were you on that very morning the terrorists flew a plane into the World Trade Center? Where were you when the terrorists flew a plane into the Pentagon? I remember sitting in my photography class, 2nd period, freshman year of High School. I remember my teacher saying there has been an attack on America. All the TVs in the High School were turned on and everyone was shocked, disoriented and panicked. People were frantic who had family, friends, or acquaintances there. I remember being so worried because my dad had been flying on business that day. All I wanted to do was go home with my mom and try and find my dad. They would not let anyone leave or call any family members. When I went home that night I remember my mom coming into my room, kissing me on my head and saying just pray. This was the first time I had seen my mother scared. She said it reminded her of the Vietnam War when her mom did the same, thinking the the world we knew could be coming to an end. What do you remember? The 9-11 Attacks shot America down for a short time. It proved America, while being a strong nation, does have its weaknesses. However we did bounce back, just as we always do. So this weekend while you are taking the time in your own way to REMEMBER the tragedy of the 9-11 Attacks take a moment to pray for those who still live with the memories of that tragic day.

Southwest Airlines and Social Media Strategy: 5 Lessons for Marketers | Social Media Explorer
What are your opinions of the popular airline Southwest? Are they negative, positive, or up in the air? My personal opinion is that they are the best airline out there. When you think of an airline what are the qualities you look for? For me it would be flights that are on time, great staff on the flights, ease of booking, cheap flights, and the ease of changing flights if something happens. Reading this article on Southwest’s social media strategy and the lessons they hope you learn from it, I found to be very true to their brand and what they represent. Do they have problems within their organization… ABSOLUTLY. However, it is a matter of how the company handles them, and Southwest deals with the problems as they arise in a timely fashion.
The Main take-away this article offers are the “lessons” they list in regards to their social media strategy that has exploded in recent years.
1. Tap your employee’s interests and passions when writing your blog.
2. Be authentic when writing your blogs. Do not sugar coat what is there.
3. Tell stories that give the readers a better grasp on you or your company.
4. In social media you can do more with less if you are organized and focused on the task at hand.
5. Listen and be ready to respond to negative or positive situations fast.
6. “Think of your customers first, second, and last (the profits will follow).”
Read this article for the full details on Southwest's social media strategy.

THE APPLE INVESTOR: Apple Doesn't Address 70% Of The World's Mobile Phone Market

AAPL Sideways As Market Rises
Stocks are up mid-week after the Greek parliament passed an unpopular austerity plan critical to avoid a debt default. Shares of AAPL are trading sideways, while the markets have recovered in the positive after an early morning sell-off. Catalysts include second quarter results released the third week in July (TBA); the next iPhone launch this fall; smartphone push into China and emerging markets; iCloud rollout and adoption; the continued evolution and next generation of Apple TV; and new platforms such as books / publishing and social (Ping). Shares of Apple trade at 11x Enterprise Value / Trailing Twelve Months Free Cash Flow (including long-term marketable securities), low versus historical standards.
Analyst Raises Third Quarter Estimates Based On iPad And Mac Sales (Barron's)
Needham analyst Charlie Wolf raised estimates based on predictions about Apple's Mac and iPad shipments. In terms of the iPad, competitors "have made an imperceptible dent in the trajectory of iPad sales". He upped his iPad sales estimate for the fiscal third quarter to 9 million units, an increase from 7.5 million. Mac unit estimates he raised from 3.75 million to 4.25 million for the quarter. He also increased his long-term revenue and EPS forecasts for Apple. For fiscal 2011 he sees just under $103.6 billion in revenue, with EPS of $25.Clash Of The Analysts: Will There Or Won't There Be A Low-End iPhone Released? (AppleInsider)
Another analyst has countered recent reports that Apple plans to release a cheaper iPhone for the pre-paid mobile market. BMO Capital's Keith Bachman believes that the iPhone 3GS will continue to serve as the company's "low-end" handset. FBR Capital Markets analyst Craig Berger agrees with Bachman that a low-price iPhone is unlikely. This is in contrast to Deutsche Bank's Chris Whitmore, who has stated a mid-range, contract free $300-$500 iPhone will launch in September.Nearly 70% Of The World Not Being Addressed By The iPhone (Asymco)
Speaking of cheaper phones, according to research firm Asymco, nearly 70% of the world's population uses pre-paid phones. So far, Apple is missing in action in that marketplace. Despite Apple’s recent decision to offer a contract-free iPhone, the handset remains ridiculously expensive. The company will eventually fill 100% of the post-paid market through the expansion of carrier agreements. When put in these terms, why on earth wouldn't Apple address the low-end?A Tale Of Two iPhones: Just Look At Apple's Product History (Daring Fireball)
John Gruber would agree. He says there is a bit of evidence of the release of a low-end iPhone amongst the scraps of information that have leaked regarding new iOS hardware. More importantly, it makes strategic sense. Eventually Apple is going to expand the iPhone to multiple tiers as in multiple new products. It’s just a matter of when. Examine the history of the iPod. Apple presses technologically at the high end, and the company expands into the mid-range market with lower priced models. Why not now?Apple The Top Mobile Device Vendor In Australia As Nokia Takes A Dive (IDC)
Apple has become the top mobile device vendor in Australia for the first time, with nearly one third market share, according to IDC’s Q1 2011 Mobile Device Tracker report. The market there has mainly been dominated by Nokia, but this year the Symbian platform has seen a huge tumble along with a dip in demand for feature phones mainly due to the rise in smartphones and consumers shying away from the platform ahead of the transition to Microsoft's Windows Phone.Google Seeing 500K Android Devices Activated Every Day (Various via techDygest)
Half a million Android devices are activated every day, a number that's growing 4.4% each week, Google's Android chief Andy Rubin revealed in a tweet. That means that Android could hit 1 million daily activations by October if this growth rate maintains. Henry Blodget at Business Insider says this leaves Apple in the dust. Back in January, Apple announced (in a roundabout way) over 360,000 daily iOS activations, and at that time Google was seeing 300,000 activations. Getting to $14 billion in mobile ad revenue in the next 4 years doesn't seem so far-fetched.Daily Trader: Samsung Replaced By TSMC As The A6 Processor Maker (Various via iDygest)
It is speculated that the move to give Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) exclusive manufacturing of the A6 may be a result of Apple's lawsuit against Samsung. Increasing legal tension between the two companies has prompted Apple to switch to contract fab to TSMC to build its next-generation A6 chip. Samsung is the company contracted by Apple to build the ARM chips found inside the iPhone 4, iPod touch 4th generation, and iPad. Could be a decent short-term pair trade.Get This Delivered To Your Inbox
